Catechism Class has now resumed on Monday in the church hall, after school, until 4.30p.m. This is for children in the parish preparing for the Sacraments. Children hoping to make their First Confession, Holy Communion, and Confirmation should be attending Holy Mass every weekend with their parents. I will have a meeting with the parents of all children hoping to receive the Sacraments, this meeting will take place on: Wednesday 13th October at 7.00p.m.,in St. James’, church hall (or church, depending on numbers) parents of children hoping to receive the Sacraments will be required to attend this meeting, and if they are unable to attend should make it known to me in advance by calling me on 01577 863329. A letter will be passed on to all parents through the Catechism Class, reminding them of this meeting.

Masses this week and changes to future Mass times…

Masses this week are as follows: Tuesday 7th 7.00p.m., Wednesday to Friday 10.00a.m., Saturday 3.00p.m. (Auchtermuchty) and 5.00p.m. (Kinross), Sunday 12th 9.00a.m., 11.00a.m., 1.00p.m. in St. James’.

Confessions are available after weekday Masses, and after 1.00p.m. Mass on Sunday.

For the future:

Many more Masses have been provided for the parish over the past while (5 at the moment, whereas we were used to only 3), given the removal of social distancing regulations I intend to move back to having 3 Masses again at the weekend from Saturday 18th / Sunday 19th September. After having received some feedback from parishioners via email, and having considered the overall attendance at the Masses provided I have made the following decision that from 18th/19th September the regular weekend Mass timetable will be as follows:

Saturday 18th September – 5.00p.m. Vigil Mass in St. James’, Kinross

Sunday 19th September – 9.00a.m. Mass in St. Matthew’s, Auchtermuchty

Sunday 19th September – 11.00a.m. Mass in St. James’

Given the current numbers attending Holy Mass this provides more than adequate opportunity for parishioners to attend and still keep a reasonable social distance should they wish. Parishioners should also be reminded that St. Matthew’s is a large church and capable of catering for a good number of people and providing ample opportunity for those who still wish to keep some physical distance from fellow parishioners.

Please be so kind as to pass on this information to your fellow parishioners.

God bless,

Fr. Martin Pletts
