A reminder that bookings are no longer being taken for Masses, and that parishioners should simply come along. Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis, it is therefore advisable that parishioners come along as early as possible (the church doors being open usually 30 minutes before Mass begins).

(From 19th July, according to most recent government guidelines, distancing in churches will be reduced from 2 metres to 1 metre).

I would like to pass on sincere congratulations on behalf of all at St. James’, Kinross, to Mr. Bob Corrieri who has been awarded the Bene Merenti by his Holiness, Pope Francis. Bob will be presented with the award at Holy Mass on 21st July by his Lordship, Bishop Stephen Robson.

A few gentle reminders:

Please show consideration to your fellow parishioners when coming to Holy Mass in these unusual circumstances. Be patient, courteous, and helpful to those who are elderly, frail, or slow because of health issues.

Please be courteous to those at the church door, the pass-keepers/stewards. As difficult as it may be if the church is full and you cannot be admitted please show them Christian understanding and charity, respect and kindness. They have a difficult role to fulfil.

Bookings are not being taken at the door, so when you arrive at church you must come in and take your place immediately, if you do not come in at that point but leave to go elsewhere (unless it is an emergency) pass keepers have been instructed to not keep a place for you (there is no quasi “reservation” system in place as this would be unfair to other parishioners). Once capacity has been reached in the church and all are seated Mass will begin, even if this is slightly earlier than timetabled.

Please be courteous to your priest as I am trying my best in very difficult circumstances to facilitate as many people as possible coming to Mass and your co-operation is necessary: the circumstances are beyond my control.

Please think how you can help, how you can ease the burden, how you can contribute positively and support the parish, finding fault or complaining is very easy and not at all helpful, whereas offering your time and your energies is demanding but will help to build-up our parish and help us to cope in testing times. We are in this together, let us show our unity and strength as Catholic brothers and sisters.

I am appealing to parishioners to help in the cleaning of the church hall so that we can use the hall as a socially-distanced over-spill for Masses (managing to accommodate approximately 10 other people), if you might be able to help with the initial cleaning of the hall please contact me on 01577 863329. We have the facility now for a livestreamed link to the hall from the church, and although not ideal, it may help us to welcome more people back in some form.

The Society of Saint Vincent De Paul thanks you all for your generous donations during these hard times. I also have to thank all those who have brought food to the hall on Sunday mornings. Donations of food are still being received in the hall on Sunday mornings and a member of SSVP will be present from 09:00 to 12:00 every Sunday for food collection at the Hall.

As we are coming out of lockdown there is still a need for BnB and each week they list on their web page a list of items required. SSVP members are still doing shopping with monies specifically donated for food by those unable to shop for this for themselves.

There will be a collection box in the Church for General funds. There has been a significant request for help from the Society in recent months. This has included help with, food, clothing, furnishing, etc. Therefore all donations are greatly appreciated. If a person wishes to make a specific donation for food please place the money in an envelope and mark it SSVP Food. Alternatively you can hand it into the hall to the member on duty on Sunday mornings.
